The Bach was fascinating, and makes me want to investigate his violin repertoire - I spent my last few school years crossing over onto viola, and have never played any solo Bach. I'm now itching to have a go!

I personally quite like the idea of a Sibelius/Bruch/Brahms combination; it could work if one found the right movements. Though I confess to initially thinking of Bruckner, not Bruch, which might work slightly better.

Just to let you know, I'm here via The Cross-Eyed Pianist via Geraldine in a Bottle via Jo Eteson of the Swingle Singers and very much look forward to exploring more of your posts!Musical Lottiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12599121945834947950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367173689821897070.post-32837103087455066122010-11-30T13:32:15.647-05:002010-11-30T13:32:15.647-05:00The B-minor Partita is a wonderful piece to practi...The B-minor Partita is a wonderful piece to practice on the violin. I never tire of it, because it has so many possibilities and so many challenges. I don't believe that it was meant as a "performance piece" at all, though I have heard remarkable performances of it. Yes. The same harmonic progression over and over can numb the ear when you aren't in the driver's seat, or if you are not compelled to pay attention to subtle details of interpretation.Elaine Finehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248422399226824168noreply@blogger.com
