I hadn't heard the scherzo by Litolff before. In my work (architecture), I've always known that once created, a work has a life of it's own. I understand how the same can't always be true for composition and writing. For a long time, musicians of all sorts have been picking and choosing what they like for a new composition. That's almost the definition of jazz! Having a knowledge of the whole as originally intended enhances the appreciation of pieces taken and placed in new contexts.Jeri S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14568326370184721173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367173689821897070.post-71681941460028396182010-11-23T14:45:06.369-05:002010-11-23T14:45:06.369-05:00Thanks, Charles. But, yes, hoping to resume more regular blogging. I occasionally program single movements on my CD player, but I think of it as a guilty player. Now maybe I'll pass on the guilt. Thanks. The seriousness of the classical music establishment needs to be questions more often.charles thiesenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01358008236372021561noreply@blogger.com
